Wall Street closes up for day and week

FXstreet.com (San Francisco) - After jumping up the final half hour, Wall Street closed Friday modestly higher and the week with strong gains as risk appetite has prevailed throughout the whole week. Nasdaq was the best performed of the major indexes while the Dow and the S&P closed just below record highs.

The Dow Jones advanced 35.87 points or 0.24% to close at 15,118.49. The DJIA advanced 0.97% on the week. The S&P 500 added 7.03 points or 0.43% to 1,633.70. The index climbed 1.19% on weekly basis.

The Nasdaq jumped 27.41 points or 0.80% to 3,436.58. The Composite rallied 1.72% on the week.

Forex: EUR/USD ends the week beneath 1.3000

A tough week comes to an end for the euro, which having tested the 1.3200 area on Wednesday, suddenly surrendered all gains and slumped below 1.3000 dragged by an outstanding dollar strength and given that ECB threat of negative rates still weigh on the EUR.

The Greenback rose further on Friday with no clear catalyst for the strengthening. With no relevant data today in the economic calendar, Yields could be the reason as the 10Y rose 0.29% 1.90%.
