Finish and Russian leaders regret deterioration in bilateral trade ties due to sanctions
FXStreet (Łódź) - Following the meeting between Finnish president Sauli Niinisto and Russian president Vladimir Putin in Sochi on Friday both leaders expressed their concern about the ongoing conflict in eastern Ukraine and pledged to seek a peaceful solution to the situation.
They agreed that bilateral Finnish-Russian trade relations, traditionally very close, have been suffering due to the sanctions battle between the West and Russia.
Niinisto also informed that Russia, Ukraine and the Red Cross have reached an agreement on humanitarian aid to Ukraine.
