US markets extends gains on employment data, Microsoft

FXstreet.com (Barcelona) - Equities in the US markets are inching higher on Thursday, propped up by the drop in Initial Claims and gains from blue-chips Microsoft Corp. (MSFT) and Verizon Communications Inc. (VZ). The greenback is trading in the defensive ground, attempting a return to the 83.00 region.
DowJones is gaining 0.50%, ahead of the Nasdaq and the S&P500, up 0.87% and 0.69% respectively.

Bourses in Euroland closed mixed on Thursday, after the upbeat data from the UK GDP boosted sentiment. Among the losers, the IBEX35 retreated 0.29% followed by the CAC40, 0.06%. On the opposite side of the road, the DAX advanced 0.95% seconded by the FTSE100, 0.17%.
After climbing to the vicinity of 1.3080, the single currency gave away all the intraday gains and retreated to the current area around the psychological mark at 1.3000, despite the favourable environment for riskier assets.

Commodities are rallying and partially recovering recent losses, with the ounce troy of gold advancing 2.25% at $1,455 and the barrel of WTI following suit, 1.07% at $92.42.

Euro keeps flirting with 1.3000

The shared currency remains stuck within its recent range versus the dollar, gravitating around 1.3000 and only moving away from that level temporarily and in a shy manner.
