Italian Govt. Sources: Conte unlikely to suggest any new deficit target in meeting with Juncker
According to a Reuters report, citing two government sources, Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte is unlikely to suggest any new deficit target during his meeting with the European Commission head Jean-Claude Juncker.
• There are excellent chances that the EU won't discipline Italy if Rome agrees to a deficit target of 2.0%.
• However, neither coalition party i.e. Salvini and Di Maio wants to lower the deficit target to below 2.2%.
