- Bitcoin surpasses $ 10k, fresh record highs.
- Bitcoin nears market capitalization of $ 200 billion.
Bitcoin (BTC/USD), the largest cryptocurrency, extends its week-long bullish streak and finally conquered the 10k mark in the majority of the exchanges in the Asian trades. As of writing, the pair was trading at $ 10.026, flirting with the record highs of $ 10,040, up 1.25% on the day.
The most dominant digital currency witnessed a parabolic rise from 6 cents seven years ago and less than $1,000 at the start of this year. Markets believe there is more upside in stored and Bitcoin could rise further to $ 40000 levels in the next year. Novogratz, formerly a macro hedge fund manager at Fortress Investment Group, noted: Bitcoin could be at $40,000 at the end of 2018. It easily could. Ethereum, which I think just touched $500 or is getting close, could be triple where it is as well."
The total market capitalization of all digital coins on CoinMarketCap increased to $316.32 billion in the last 24 hours. Meanwhile, Bitcoin’s market capitalization alone stands at $ 170.41 billion, up +4.38% since yesterday.
Ethereum, Bitcoin’s rival, consolidates in a tight range around $ 470, little affected by Bitcoin’s latest upsurge to record highs.
