Event risks ahead? - Westpac
Analysts at Westpac noted the key events coming up for the sessions ahead.
"Australia’s data calendar remains quiet until Thursday, with little in Asia today either.
It is a busy session for Fed commentary, including NY Fed’s Dudley from 11am Syd and in the NY morning, Senate confirmation hearings for Jay Powell as Fed chair.
The US data slate is crowded, though with releases that typically have limited market impact. Oct wholesale inventories could produce tweaks to Q4 GDP estimates, while the Sep 20 city house price index (S&P/CoreLogic) is seen up 6%yr.
More market-sensitive are the Nov readings on the Richmond Fed manufacturing index (seen remaining upbeat at +14 net balance) and consumer confidence (Conference Board survey). The Oct confidence index rose to 125.9, a high since Dec 2000. Over the past 20 years, the low was 25.3 in Feb 2009, the high 144.7 in Jan 2000."
