Session Recap: USD consolidates gains

In a quiet session, consolidator movements across the market pressured the USD to the down side against its major competitors. Equities posted a new day of highs with the DJIA reaching its 7-day win streak.

The Pound has managed to recover losses against the Dollar and currently is trading almost flat at 1.4915 after falling to 1.4865, lowest since June 2010. The EUR/USD is trying to recover ground and after conquering the 1.3000 region, the pair is trading at 1.3050.

The USD/JPY has consolidated levels above 96.00 following the latest bullish movement, now the pair is at 96.30. The AUD/USD is testing the 1.0280 resistance after rising 0.65% on the day. The USD/CAD declined 0.25% on the day in its wat to retest the 1.0250 price.

The Euro is trading higher today against the USD and after rising around 30 pips from 1.3025 in the latest hour, the EUR/USD has touched levels above the 1.3050 area. Currently the pair is trading at 1.3050, 0.43% above opening price.

Following BOJ governor candidate Mr. Kuroda remarks on the need for more monetary easing during his intervention at the Japan's upper house yesterday, according to Nomura strategist Yujiro Goto, "in terms of the timing of easing, he said he wants to discuss easing soon, suggesting an easing at the first meeting (April 3-4) is possible" Yujiro says.
