European stocks drop as miners retreat
FXStreet (Mumbai) - European stocks fell for a second day due to the losses in the mining and chemical stocks.
The pan-European Euro Stoxx 600 index retreated 0.60% to trade around 373.64 levels. Among regional indices, Germany’s DAX fell 0.37% and France’s CAC lost 0.53%. The UK’s FTSE index also suffered 0.42% loss.
Among the Stoxx 600 stocks, Tullow Oil and Anglo American were down 3.5% each. Germany’s Dialog shares were down 6.85%. Meanwhile, the positive side includes names like Talk Talk, United Internet AG and DS Smith.
Both the Federal Reserve and the Bank of Japan will give policy updates this week, with the U.S central bank announcing its rate decision on Oct. 28.
