Euro Stoxx 600 advanced 1% on gains in commodity shares
FXStreet (Mumbai) - The pan-European Euro Stoxx 600 index strengthened on Thursday on account of the gains in the commodity and energy shares in the major European bourses.
Shares in Tullow Oil were up 9.2% in London. Glencore led mining and commodity stocks higher in early trading. The mining giant however erased gains to trade more than 4% lower. Among other mining stocks, Anglo American was up more than 4%, while Antofagasta added 2.19%.
In Frankfurt, Deutsche Boerse rose 4.32% after Barclays raised its rating on the stock to 'overweight’. The investors now await the fresh round of the US data – weekly initial jobless claims and US monthly ISM manufacturing report.
The Stoxx 600 index currently trades almost 1% higher around 351.00 levels.
