Australia House prices beat expectations in Q2

FXStreet (Mumbai) - Residential property prices in Australia were up 4.7% on quarter in Q2 2015, the Australian Bureau of Statistics said on Tuesday.

That topped expectations for an increase of 2.5% following the 1.6% gain in the first quarter.

On a yearly basis, house prices spiked 9.8% - also beating forecasts for an increase of 8% and up from 6.9% in Q1 2015.

During a speech titled 'Riding the Commodity Cycle: Resources and the Canadian Economy' on late Monday, Bank of Canada (BOC) Governor Stephen Poloz noted, Canada has witnessed sharp swings in resource prices in the past and the economy has managed to handled them well and will continue to do so.
