Abe to call snap Japanese election? – UOB

FXStreet (Barcelona) - The Research Team at UOB Group suggest keep an eye on the Japan news flow today as there is a possibility of Abe calling for snap elections as early as December.

Key Quotes

“The Bank of Japan will have its two-day monetary policy meeting on Tuesday & Wednesday, 18-19 Nov. After expanding its monetary stimulus further in its 31 October decision, the BOJ will not be expected to act further in November or even in December despite the surprise fall of the Japan economy into a technical recession in 3Q.”

“Instead, attention now will fall on PM Abe who is now seen likely to delay the next sales tax hike due in October 2015 (the decision is due to be announced sometime in December 2014) while the other thing to watch for is the possibility of Abe calling for snap elections as early as in December even though Abe does not need to call for elections till Dec 2016 and his party is currently in control of both the upper and lower houses of the National Diet.”
