AUD/USD fails at 0.8600 resistance and settles at 0.8580

FXStreet (Moscow) - AUD/USD  tested an area above 0.8600 after having touched the Asian low at 0.8553; currently the pair is trading at 0.8580 with marginal loses on the day.

Aussie was a big loser of the day. AUD/USD lost about 150 pips on Wednesday on the back of broadband USD ascent. The pair broke a couple of important support levels and touched a new multi-year low at 0.8552 in Asia today. The pair is affected by USD upside trend. It seems to be is so strong that even fairly positive Australian employment report failed to trigger the upside correction of AUD/USD. Investors are speaking about lost confidence towards this series of data as there’s been a lot of noise about seasonal adjustments that raised a big question about the credibility of this report. Anyway, Aussie ventured a move towards 0.8600 resistance, but fresh offers located there pushed it back to 0.8580. Later during the day keep an eye at 0.8600 as sustained move above this level might extend the rebound towards 0.8640/50 area. The nearest support lies at current Asian low of 0.8553, followed by 0.8520 with large stops.

What are today’s key AUD/USD levels?

Today's central pivot point can be found at 0.8641, with support below at 0.8517, 0.8442 and 0.8318, with resistance above at 0.8716, 0.8840 and 0.8915. Hourly Moving Averages are mostly bearish, with the 200SMA bearish at 0.8773 and the daily 20EMA flat at 0.8809. Hourly RSI is bearish at 22.
