American equity markets start week off in the green

FXstreet.com (Barcelona) - The US stock market notched a slightly positive opening Monday, ahead of some key economic data in the United States and a recent resurgence of the USD. Earlier today in the US, the Markit Manufacturing PMI yielded a figure of 52.3 in May, beating estimates of 52.0.

Beginning with the indices and composites, the NASDAQ rose +0.13% as it settles in region of 3461.19, up +5.05 points in these moments. In addition, the S&P 500 is trading in positive territory, operating at 1633.36, ascending +2.62 points or +0.16% at the time of writing. Finally, the Dow Jones has moved higher at the opening, trading in the zone of 15168.33, presently +0.35% after a movement of +52.76 points.

Sectors are all red at the opening, however the Basic Materials and Technology sectors have distinguished themselves as the winners thus far, growing +0.49% and +0.24% respectively. In other news, the price of crude is testing USD $92.81/bbl Monday.
