US stocks mixed, USD soars
FXStreet (Córdoba) - Stock in the US opened positive but then lost momentum and retreated. In Europe, main indexes also finished mixed. The FTSE 100 rose 0.05% while the DAx climbed 0.30%, on the negative side the Cac 40 lost 0.04%. In Wall Street the Dow Jones was down 0.42% and the Nasdaq was flat.
Gold was falling sharply more than 1.80%; price bottomed at $1,263 the lowest price in two months. Crude oil was approaching last months lows, plunging almost 3%; the barrel was below $93.50.
Among currencies the US dollar was rising across the board, while the Euro and the Swiss Franc were showing resilience. Cable was among the worst performers, weakened on the back of the scottish referendum while the Kiwi was also dropping considerably amig a decline in milk prices.
